Historian Laureate of the City of Mishawaka

Historian Laureate of the City of Mishawaka

During the dedication of the new Veterans Plaza at Battell Park on November 11, 2019, Mayor Dave Wood designated Pete Dekever, Treasurer and curator of the Museum, as the official Historian Laureate of the City of Mishawaka. “A Historian Laureate is a city’s official ambassador on historical matters and the person who promotes the history of the city and its citizens by documenting, researching, interpreting, and speaking about the people, places, and events that have created a city’s distinctive heritage and character,” wrote Mayor Wood in the December Mishawaka Communicator. Pete De Kever, a lifelong Mishawaka resident, is the curator and treasurer of the Mishawaka Historical Museum.
